ERIS can advise and assist on all aspects of the democratic process.

Projects can be big or small:

  • we can manage entire multi-donor projects comprising many different elements - see ERIS Projects
  • or we can provide a much smaller number of experts, even just one or two.

Here we describe our smaller scale technical assistance work.

ERIS experts can advise election management bodies on:

• pre-election planning
• electoral laws
• gender and elections
• prevention of election-related violence
• civic and voter education
• voter registration
• political parties
• civil society
• media
• election day management
• resolution of electoral disputes.

We can also provide experts to help strengthen other democratic institutions and:

• work with civil society to promote citizens’ election observation and the accountability of parliamentarians;
• help the media to play its part in building democracy;
• assist community-based grass-roots organisations in promoting participation in general and of disadvantaged groups in particular; and
• work with NGOs to help prevent election-related violence.
