ERIS is working with the Malawi Election Support Network (MESN) to train over a hundred key regional civil society activists in i) standards and principles for democratic elections; ii) electoral process best practice; and iii) the design, organisation and evaluation of effective issue-based civic education projects.

ERIS Projects
With funding support from the British and Belgian governments, ERIS has been working with local partner coalition Lam Echaml to educate rural voters, especially youth and women, ahead of the 23 October 2011 constituent assembly elections, and is now working with Tunisian civil society to develop a strategic plan for civic education over the coming year.

- training in the UK and overseas
- work with election observers - drawing up shortlists for the UK Government, training observers and co-operating with citizens’ election observer groups around the world
- a wide range of democracy support activities
For the future, we plan to focus increasing attention on collaboration with grassroots civil society organisations working to prevent election-related conflict, to hold elected representatives to account, to empower women, ethnic and religious minorities and to promote citizen participation in the democratic process.
