ERIS to continue EU electoral assistance project in Tunisia

March 2013

In the first week of February 2013, ERIS and its consortium partners were officially awarded a new EU Electoral Assistance in Tunisia project worth more than €1.2 million.

As with our previous project, ERIS will provide expertise and advice to the Election Commission (once established) ahead of elections which are expected to take place later this year.

Despite delays in the electoral calendar due to the uncertain political climate, renewed assistance to the above national authority is essential in upholding the country’s transition to democracy. Support in the areas of electoral operations, legal framework, media monitoring, training and public outreach will form the basis for the Commission to undertake all the necessary election preparations and ensure the integrity and credibility of general elections.

Once more, ERIS will be working with two partner organisations - Osservatorio di Pavia (Italy) and the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (Sweden) to provide a comprehensive technical assistance project. The project contract is expected to be signed in September 2013.
