ERIS supports Turks and Caicos Islands 2012 elections

March 2012

ERIS is providing expert support and advice to the Turks & Caicos Islands (TCI) Supervisor of Elections throughout 2012, building toward elections anticipated for late 2012.

Following his first visit to TCI to assess the steps necessary for the holding of a general election, ERIS expert and Chair of the UK Association of Election Administrators John Turner will return to the country in early May to work with the Supervisor of Elections to review progress with the combined TCI Islander card and voter registration process.

He will assess the status of:

  • the voter database
  • purchase of polling equipment
  • training for new staff.

He will also work with the Governor's Office to identify possible EBC candidates and help with the identification of independent monitors.

ERIS carried out an election assessment followed by an election observation mission to TCI for elections in 2007.
