ERIS Project in Kenya

October 2011

ERIS recently launched an FCO-funded project in Kenya that will support the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission of Kenya (IEBCK) to prevent and mitigate election related violence in the 2012 elections.

The project will kick off with a two-week conflict assessment mission during which a team of two ERIS experts, Clever Nyathi and Grace Favrel, will meet with the Commissioners, Political party registrar, CSOs and donors, as well as at the provincial level with District Peace Committees, IEBC staff and representatives of political parties.

The mission will conclude with the development of a training programme for IEBCK that will focus on handling electoral disputes at local level, as well as contributing to the broader goals of election-related conflict prevention and mitigation.
