Election-related Violence Monitoring in Sudan

July 2010

ERIS was subcontracted by The Carter Centre to work with Sudanese NGOs on violence monitoring during the April elections.

A project team was deployed to Khartoum from March to May 2010 for the ‘Election-Related Violence Tracking Project’. The team provided technical assistance for the tracking and reporting of election-related violence.

Over a six week-period, teams of specialised observers were deployed across the 25 states to observe instances of election-related violence in Sudan, and weekly updates were prepared as their reports were analysed.

The information collected has been gathered in conflict dossiers in an accessible format, and will shortly be published by the participating organisations.
